No. 742/Bill No. 157 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 2:00 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 157, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 157, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth via Communication 742, dated April 1, <br /> 2022, repeals Ordinance No. 04-120, which amended Section 25-8-28 (Ka`u District Zone Map), <br /> Article 8, Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the Hawaii County Code, by changing the district <br /> classification from Agriculture-20 acres (A-20a)to Agricultural Project District(APD) at Palima <br /> and P5'au`au, Ka`u, Hawaii, covered by Tax Map Keys: 9-6-005:018 and 9-6-006:004. <br /> Planning Director initiated and introduced by Chair Ashley Kierkiewicz, by request. <br /> Committee Member Heather Kimball was Acting Committee Chair due to Committee Chair <br /> Ashley Kierkiewicz, Vice Chair Rebecca Villegas, and Finance Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder <br /> being absent. <br /> Planning Director Zendo Kern was present via Zoom and explained that the applicant would like <br /> to revert the zoning to its original classification due to Conditions not being met and the project <br /> remaining in limbo. <br /> Mr. Greg Pile, applicant, was present via Zoom and explained that the original Trustee had <br /> passed away in 2020; he is the successor Trustee of the Ellis Jacob Hester Trust and must <br /> consolidate the two parcels and subdivide them at the direction of the Trust. <br /> Your Committee had no questions or remarks. <br /> The vote was then taken on the motion to move this measure to Council with a favorable <br /> recommendation and passed with six "ayes,"with Committee Chair Kierkiewicz, Committee <br /> Members Villegas and Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder absent. <br /> PC Report No.: 64 <br />
