Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 409-22, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 409-22, transmitted by the Finance Director Deanna S. Sako, via Communication No. 787
dated April 29, 2022, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Federal
Highway Administration, pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, for a grant to the
Department of Public Works.
This resolution allows for the receipt of$726,000, to add 15 Hawai`i Island Bikeshare stations in
Kailua-Kona and Hilo.
Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder provided comments in support of the measure, emphasizing
the move toward providing sustainable modes of transportation.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13, Hawaii County Charter,the
Mayor is authorized to apply for, receive, and expend the funds for contracts with private parties, other
counties,the State, or the United States government for functions or activities which the County is
authorized to perform.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 409-22, and
recommends its adoption.
