STATEt i +J'Q• Ma MOWih\\ art nf•µR.er 3 I I RESOLUTION NO. 424 22 3 3i3 I A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT I AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOSPICE OF KILO FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH ITS 181h ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE EVENT. `s WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo, DBA Hawaii Care Choices, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides medical, social, and spiritual services for terminally ill patients at end of life as well as providing support to their families and caregivers; and WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo held its 18'h Annual Celebration of Life event on Saturday, May 28th, 2022, at Reeds Bay Beach Park to commemorate the lives of loved ones who have passed; and WHEREAS, the 2022 Celebration of Life was free, open to the public, and included culturally diverse activities, Lights of Remembrance, a sunset lantern release, live music, and dancing as well as a special memorial tribute to our late former Big Island Mayor, Billy Kenoi; and WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo is requesting funds as a reimbursement for expenses incurred from conducting its 18th Annual Celebration of Life event, which included, but not limited to sanitation supplies to help keep the community safe from the spread of COVID-19; and WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Parks and Recreation is to provide events and activities that celebrate and commemorate our culture, heritage, and diverse communities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hospice of Hilo for reimbursement of expenses associated with its 18th Annual Celebration of Life Event. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below;
