3 <br /> i <br /> y <br /> 3 ° <br /> yrs°os°Na'+ <br /> i <br /> c <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAIII STATE OF HAWAPI <br /> I <br /> SOLUTION NO. 425 22 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MALAMA O PUNA <br /> FOR SIGNAGE FOR ITS UBRAN PERMACULTURE GARDEN. <br /> WHEREAS, Malama O Puna is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to <br /> protect critical habitat,native species, open spaces, and traditional cultural landscapes for future <br /> generations; and <br /> WHEREAS, Malama O Puna is seeking support for design and installation of <br /> informational signage at its 5,000 square foot urban permaculture garden in Pdhoa; and <br /> WHEREAS, since May of 2021, Malama O Puna has been hosting several garden tours <br /> to educate the community on the development of agricultural ecosystems intended to be <br /> sustainable and self-sufficient and desires informational signage that explains permaculture <br /> concepts like"zones", composting, and companion planting that would allow the public to visit <br /> the garden outside of its formal tours; and <br /> WHEREAS, Malama O Puna is requesting funds for signage for its urban permaculture <br /> garden; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Parks and Recreation, is to provide <br /> and/or facilitate a wide array of services and opportunities that meet the needs of the Big Island <br /> community while maintaining cultural uniqueness of our rich heritage, diversity, and the aloha <br /> spirit; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Malama O Puna for signage for its urban permaculture <br /> garden. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
