RESOLUTION NO. 428 22
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE DANIEL R.
SAYRE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION TO PURCHASE AN ICE MAKER FOR THE
HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT'S SOUTH KOALA STATION AT MAUNA LANI.
WHEREAS, the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization dedicated to providing essential equipment and training to the Hawaii Fire
Department to help save lives; and
WHEREAS, since its inception in 1997, the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation has
raised millions of dollars in donations to enhance the Hawaii Fire Department, which is vital to
its rescue and fire-fighting operations; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department has identified the need for an ice maker at its
South Kohala Station at Mauna Lani, which will improve departmental readiness during
emergency and hazard responses; and
WHEREAS, the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation is requesting funds to purchase
an ice maker for the Hawaii Fire Department's South Kohala Station at Mauna Lani; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department's mission is to provide exceptional, all-
hazards emergency services to the residents and visitors of Hawaii Island; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Fire
Department to provide a grant to the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation to purchase an ice
maker for the Hawaii Fire Department's South Kohala Station at Mauna Lani.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
