HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 426 Draft 01 2020-2022 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MALAMA O PUNA FOR THE BLACK SANDS BEACH COMMUNITY GARDEN. WHEREAS, Malama O Puna is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to enhance the environment and standard of living for the residents of Puna; and WHEREAS, the Black Sands Beach Property Owners Association would like to create a community garden that is centrally placed in the subdivision on a partially fenced .17-acre lot owned by the association, which will provide the community with fresh produce and a space to promote and expand sustainable gardening practices; and WHEREAS, Malama O Puna will be working with the Black Sands Beach Property Owners Association to create the community garden and is requesting funds for expenses, which include, but are not limited to, materials to complete the perimeter fencing, potting soil, cinder, tools, fertilizer, seeds, and plants; and WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports sustainable agricultural practices by promoting educational opportunities designed to build skills and capacity in the farming community and to support locally produced agricultural products; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Malama O Puna for the Black Sands Beach Community Garden. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General       AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION:  $2,750       OUT AND FROM:    010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC – Contingency Relief $2,750      CREDITED TO:    010.161.5163.20 Department of Research and Development $2,750   Business Development R&D    115 Misc. Contract Services    (Malama O Puna - Black Sands Beach Community Garden)    BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
