3 <br /> i <br /> OS�{Y Of <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAIII STATE OF HAWAIII <br /> ,tf Of NFA <br /> I <br /> I <br /> 3 <br /> I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 429 22 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> 3 <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS <br /> HAWAII INC. TO PURCHASE UNIFORMS FOR THE ATHLETES OF SPECIAL <br /> OLYMPICS EAST HAWAII. <br /> WHEREAS, Special Olympics East Hawaii is a division of Special Olympics Hawaii <br /> Inc.; and <br /> WHEREAS, Special Olympics East Hawaii is an organization whose mission is to <br /> provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports <br /> for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to <br /> develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of <br /> gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the <br /> community; and <br /> WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawaii Inc. is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that <br /> raises funds all year-round,providing opportunities for physical fitness, sports training, and <br /> athletic competition and recreation through local area, state, regional, and international <br /> programs; and <br /> WHEREAS, due to the prolonged duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, Special <br /> Olympics Hawaii Inc. was unable to sponsor any fundraising events or activities to raise monies <br /> for its programs, and is requesting financial assistance to purchase uniforms for the athletes of <br /> Special Olympics East Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br /> promote health, wellness, growth, and learning in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Special Olympics Hawaii Inc. to purchase uniforms for the <br /> athletes of Special Olympics East Hawaii. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
