A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF ONE (1) CHEVY CARGO TRUCK AND VARIOUS BOMB SQUAD EQUIPMENT TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAIʻI POLICE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the State of Hawai‘i utilized federal funding to purchase and donate one (1) 2019 Chevy cargo truck and various equipment to the County of Hawai‘i; and
WHEREAS, this truck and equipment, with an estimated value of $429,287.37, will be utilized by the Hawai‘i Interisland Bomb Squad; and
WHEREAS, a detailed list of equipment has been outlined in “Exhibit A”; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal
property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawai‘i County Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities,
or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department recommends the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a)
of the Hawai‘i County Code, the Council of the County of Hawai‘i accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Police Department, the Department of Finance, and the Office of the Mayor.
