RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAI‘I, HAWAI‘I TOURISM AUTHORITY, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR A GRANT TO THE HAWAI‘I COUNTY
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the State of Hawai‘i, Hawai‘i Tourism Authority has authorized $175,000 to be provided to the County of Hawai‘i, Department of Research & Development to implement actions from
the Hawai‘i Island Destination Management Action Plan (DMAP); and
WHEREAS, the purpose of this agreement is to ensure that the Hawai‘i Island Tourism Strategic Plan (TSP) and DMAP goals and objectives are being achieved through the implementation of
the Resilience Corp and Community Tourism Collaborative programs; and
WHEREAS, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting
action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant
to those powers; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I, in accordance with section 46-7, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of Hawai‘i is authorized to execute, on
behalf of the County, an agreement
and related documents with State of Hawai‘i, Hawai‘i Tourism Authority for services as described above.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawai‘i shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Department of Finance, and the Department
of Research and Development.
