The tax assessment has risen so much, many locals who own land also struggle . Soon, they won't be able to pay the taxes and then foreclosures, and they lose their properties and they will be homeless, and struggle to find affordable housing. Like a crazy circle, and you are once secured then you're not. Owners who have investment properties have to pay higher taxes, then they raise the rents. Insurance keeps going up, utilities as well. I totally understand the need for more support and money needed for housing needs. And thank you for trying to address and solve the problem! BUT, PLEASE GO AFTER THE MONEY FROM THE STATE. I read the newspaper today and saw 'AFFORDABLE HOUSING MEASURE PASS" Seven bills that will go before Gov. David Ige for his final consideration would appropriate nearly 1 BILLION FOR VARIOUS HOUSING PROGRAMS, ESTABLISH LEGAL PROTECTION FOR LOW INCOME RENTERS, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL RESOURCES FOR STRUGGLING FAMILIES, AND MORE!! $$$ This is Good News for Everyone!! PLEASE READ THIS AND USE THESE FUNDS INSTEAD. https://vwvw.westhawai itoday.com/2022/05/03/hawaii-news/affordable-housing-measures-pass/ CD Mahalo!
