Aloha e Council Members
My name is Marc Rubenstein, I am the SVP/ COO of Polynesian Adventure Tours (PolyAd).
PolyAd is one of the largest tour and transportation operators in the State of Hawaii. We operate approximately
140 vehicles (roughly 35 on the Island of Hawai'i) and employ over 190 people statewide.
We are in FAVOR of reducing the fuel tax via Resolution 363-22. We have just been through a tremendous
upheaval with the Covid 19 pandemic over the last 2 years, and now are being buffeted by inflation, particularly high
fuel prices.
The County has enjoyed a surplus in fuel taxes since raising the rate in 2017, while not spending the funds to benefit
your constituency. Please take this opportunity to provide some much needed relief to the industries that rely on fuel
to operate.
