REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> i <br /> DATE: May 31, 2022 Re: Comm.No. 801/Res.No. 416-22 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 1:09 P.M. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Resolution No. 416-22,reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 416-22,transmitted by Council Member Rebecca Villegas via Communication No. 801 <br /> dated May 11, 2022, authorizes the Director of Finance to enter into negotiations for the acquisition of <br /> Tax Map Key 7-7-004:025 situated in the District of North Kona, also known as Kakala O Kamoa <br /> Cultural Center, utilizing the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund. <br /> The County seeks to acquire this .78 acre of oceanfront parcel located on the north side of Holualoa Bay <br /> along Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona to preserve the historic Lyman House cottage and stone swimming <br /> pool, and provide an area for a cultural education, subsistence fishing, and shoreline recreation.
