Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 419-22,reports as follows:
Resolution No. 419-22,transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 813
dated May 12, 2022, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the
University of Hawaii at Hilo.
This resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into a three-year agreement to facilitate the Hawaii
Island Recovery and Resilience Action Learning Initiative.
Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz requested that a representative from Research and
Development or the University of Hawaii at Hilo be present at the next Council meeting to provide a
brief presentation on their working relationship.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13, Hawaii County Charter,the
Mayor is authorized to apply for, receive, and expend the funds for contracts with private parties,
other counties, the State, or the United States government for functions or activities which the County
is authorized to perform.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 419-22, and
recommends its adoption.
