Subject: Mayor Roth's budget proposal
I am writing to oppose the part of the budget proposal to reduce the residential tier two tax on luxury second homes
by 10 cents. My question is why reduce the tax on these luxury second homes? This in no way benefits our local
people. Most of these second homes are rented out for the majority of the time at exorbitant rates as short term
vacation rentals. The owners have no commitment to the community, county and state. I am firmly of the belief that
any tax reductions should be focused on our local residents and businesses who are struggling to remain in our
Hawai`i nei.
