Re: Bill 152 and 153
Dear Council Members:
I urge you to support passage of Bill 152 and 153. As a member of the Community Alliance
Partners, their focus on housing is crucial to maintaining our sense of community and to support the
families that live here and want to stay here.
As you know,the influx of real estate buyers has pushed the price of affordable housing out of
reach for many. While that has the impact of increasing the county's tax revenue, it has the
consequence of putting affordable housing out of reach for many of the members of our communities
who have lived and thrived in Hawaii for generations. The"haves"have made it hard to find rentals,
permanent housing,and have made it harder to maintain the cultural stability of our communities.
Please take action to support programs that increase housing availability and inventory for our
residents,no matter what their age and financial ability.
