Aloha Chair Kaneali'i-Kleinfilder and committee members,
I have vivid memories of when I was a little keiki walking to the park with my Russian
immigrant granny. She would sit on the shady park bench and talk story with her babushka friend
while we played.
Fresh air, sunshine, movement and interpersonal connection is so important for the human soul!
I strongly support any and all funding needed to make the HPP park happen.
Please use best practices to mitigate sound and other impacts to adjacent residents environment.
Let's talk development!
John Whalen, of Plan Pacific, the PCDP consultant called it!
He said HPP, Ainaloa and Volcano Village would be the areas of most concentration growth.
What he could not have possibly seen were two eruptions in Puna and the coronavirus pandemic.
Our PCDP implementation chart has shown very few projects being implemented over the years.
Construction has come to Puna like wildfire! Had some of the basic health and safety objectives
of the CDP been acted on,we may not be in the situation we are in now. Levels of services were
sorely lacking in Puna two decades ago. They are still lacking now. Now there is a more pressing
need.
I realize a lot has been going on.
Financial resources are available for all districts on our beautiful Island.
Prudent spending is required to provide levels and services for all. Sacrifice is required. Patience
is as well. HPP has been patient.
I am so pleased that the HPP park is moving forward.

location in Fern Forest at Kaliponi as a next step in park development for Puna!
