Aloha Council Members,
I am writing in support of Bill 160 which will increase funding for affordable housing on Hawaii Island. I
want to thank the members of the County Council for your efforts to address the affordable housing
crisis all community members on our islands are being affected by now. Years of affordable housing
shortages, and the high cost of living has made housing stability out of reach for many working
families. We have seen through the past two years the importance of our hard working, essential
workers and all they do to keep our community safe,fed, and healthy. We need to make sure we
create a future for families that include affordable housing and an opportunity to grow and prosper
here.
Your support of Bill 160 is the beginning of moving our housing development priorities to the people '
who make our communities thrive and grow.There is much to be done to build enough affordable
housing, including changes in zoning, changes in building codes, and addressing underlying issues that
impede affordable housing development.
Housing is fundamental in keeping families stable, healthy, and safe. Thank you for your support of Bill
