Not only do they provide homes for other sea life but they play a part in protecting us from storms as well. The chemicals that are contained in non-mineral sunscreen prevent the growth of our essential corals and degrade the integrity of our reefs. As corals are slow growing beings, corals being killed at this fast pace because of sunscreens that contain chemicals like oxybenzone and octinoxate, completely off-set our ecosystem. In fact you can already see that happening world wide. This bill aims to preserve the health, safety, and welfare of humans and the environment by allowing only mineral sunscreens to be provided, sold, offered for sale, or distributed in the County. I am in support of Bill 167. I submit my testimony in strong support of Bill 167. ▪ r.3 • Q r7 c) Thank you for your time, _ <z Jia Ray Angel-Duarosan An el-Duarosan -_ 7th-Grade Student $' -= • - Kihei Charter School Maui, Hawai`i cz:# V ` Comm.
