Hello,
My husband and I are newer to the island. So in one respect, we don't feel like we should be dictating any changes
here. In another respect, we moved from an area(Long Beach, CA) that was closed to the public half the time due to
sewage spills and toxic waste. We know what happens to an area when their ocean dies. People no longer vacation
there,the citizens can no longer use their beaches, i.e. the economy dries up and crime goes through the roof and the
citizens paying the most in taxes (me and my husband)pack up and move to another state. I could get into all the
environmental factors and the sea life and how it's absolutely imperative to our survival. But that doesn't seen to get
too far with most governments. As a business woman who owned an international business for almost 20 years, I
tend to look at the economic impact of decisions. From an economical viewpoint,this totally makes sense. We have
companies like Little Hands who are locally owned manufacturing fantastic sunscreen that I use myself. We could
encourage tourists and locals to buy from our local businesses thus leaving money on the island vs. it going to the
mainland where we'll never see it again. I've toured the world and vacationed on some of the prettiest beaches world
wide. I can tell you we would've never spent a dime to travel to a country where the beaches were dead. Please pass
Bill 167 for the sake of not only our health, but our fiscal future.
