Dear Hawai`i County Council Chair Rebecca Villegas, Co-Chair Heather Kimball, and members of the Committee on
Climate Resilience &Natural Management,
Healthy coral reefs protect our island's coastal infrastructure, beaches, and community. The chemical compounds
contained in non-mineral sunscreen prevent coral growth and slowly destroy the integrity of our reefs. This ordinance
aims to preserve the health, safety, and welfare of humans and the environment by allowing only mineral sunscreens
to berovided sold, offered for sale, or distributed in the
pCounty.
I submit my testimony in strong support of Bill 167.
