I am from Kealakekua and i live in Honaunau. I am a 7th grade student at `Ehunuikaimalino. In science class we learned about the Kumulipo and the importance of coral in the ocean. I am writing to you today because i heard that Bill 167 is being discussed by the county, and I am writing to ask for your kokua to pass this Bill. The reason this Bill is important to me is because I love the ocean and i think its important to preserve the resources it provides. Healthy coral reefs help to protect our island community. The chemicals in non-mineral sunscreen inhibit coral growth and degrade the integrity of our reefs. This bill aims to preserve the health, safety, and welfare of humans and the environment by allowing only mineral sunscreens to be provided, sold, offered for sale, or distributed in the County. I submit my testimony in strong support of Bill 167. Mahalo • Comm.No. 11 1'S Ref:To: PiCANttMCI Ref.Oat. MAY 1 7 .2027 1
