My name is Kamanawa`iolani. I am from waimea and i live at Hawaiian Homes.
I am a 7th grade student at 'Ehunuikaimalino. In science class we learned about Kumulipo,Malama `aina,
Darwin's Theory of evolution, Coral reef, and a lot of other things. But I am writing to you today because
bill 167 is being discussed by the county, and I am writing to ask for your help and support for this bill.This
bill is important to me because i want to ban sunscreen to help the living organisms in the sea.
Healthy coral reefs help to protect our island community.The chemicals in non-mineral sunscreen inhibit coral growth and
degrade the integrity of our reefs.This bill aims to preserve the health,safety,and welfare of humans and the environment by
allowing only mineral sunscreens to be provided,sold,offered for sale,or distributed in the County.
I submit my testimony in strong support of Bill 167.
