I am from Hilo and I live at Kailua kona in Hawaiian Homes. I am a 7th grade student at Ehunuikaimalino. In Science class we learned about the Kumulipo and whats happening to the coral. I am writing to you today because I heard that BILL 167 is being discussed by the County, and I am writing to ask for your help of this bill. The reason this bill is important to me is because the some of the sun screen is killing our coral. Healthy coral reefs help to protect our island community. The chemicals in non-mineral sunscreen inhibit coral growth and degrade the integrity of our reefs. This bill aims to preserve the health, safety, and welfare of humans and the environment by allowing only mineral sunscreens to be provided, sold, offered for sale, or distributed in the County. I submit my testimony in strong support of Bill 167. Mahalo o ctzi 7m. Yr o Ui -- Comm.No. 111 . ngRef.To: o I 02-N RML Ref. Date MAY 1 7 2022
