Subject: My testimony for supporting Bill 167
Dear Chair Rebecca Villegas, Co-Chair Heather Kimball, and members of the Committee on Climate Resilience &
Natural Management.
Thank you for your work on the behalf of
all of us living in Hawaii.
I have lived here since 1983 and I believe supporting this Bill 167 is one of the most important decisions you
will make while working so hard as you take responsibility for the welfare of our beautiful islands.
Healthy coral reefs protect our island's coastal infrastructure,beaches, and community. The chemical compounds
contained in non-mineral sunscreen inhibit coral growth and degrade the integrity of our reefs. This ordinance aims to
preserve the health, safety, and welfare of humans and the environment by allowing only mineral sunscreens to be
provided, sold, offered for sale, or distributed in the County.
I submit my testimony in strong support of Bill 167. co
