In particular, if we lessen the impact(s) to our nearshore reef ecosystems,.they revive, even flourish. Healthy coral reef ecosystems protect of our island's coastal infrastructure, beaches, and community. The chemical compounds contained in non-mineral sunscreen inhibit coral growth and reproduction of our reefs. Some consumer available sunscreens have chemical compounds known to be toxic to corals in the parts per trillion! Bill 167 enables only mineral sunscreens are available in Hawaii county there by protecting healthy reefs and the people that enjoy them. Please take action!
