Subject: Healthy corals
Coral reefs are'important for tourism, coastal protection, and fish habitats. Because of coral bleach caused by climate
change, major reefs worldwide have been in decline. Sunscreen chemicals are especially toxic to corals which have
been bleached since the animals are already stressed. Locally we cannot change climate change, however we can
control the damage done by sunscreens on our coral reefs. Our future depends on taking immediate action on banning
chemical sunscreens on our islands.
