Subject: TESTIMONY IN STRONG SUPPORT BILL 167
Attn: Chair Rebecca Villegas, Co-Chair Heather Kimball, and members of the Committee on Climate Resilience &
Natural Management.
My name is Ashley Romero. I am emailing in regards to bill 167 on sunscreens in Hawaii. Toxic chemicals contained
in sunscreens cause massive amounts of damage to our coral reefs. Our community, beaches, marine life, and coastal
infrastructure all depend on the health of these coral reefs. Ensuring the health of our coral reefs is not just an issue of
environmental protection but also the safety and health of our communities and our planet. These changes need to be
made at a government and industry level in order to see significant differences and bill 167 is a good step in the right
direction.
Therefore I am submitting this testimony in strong support of Bill 167.
