Aloha,Councilmember Sue Lee Loy,Chair, and members of the Human Services and Social Services Committee:
We are grateful to the County of Hawaii and this year's Grant in Aid,Ad-Hoc Committee for the financial assistance and
awards. I appreciated this year's process, which felt streamlined and more thoughtful as a whole, especially after the last two
years of new challenges.The Grant-in-Aid awards (and its process in itself) is a catalyst for positive change across many sectors
and lays the foundation for better collaboration between people in the community, and will likely enhance the partnerships
between public, private,and philanthropic organizations.
This year's Ad-Hoc Committee asked thorough,thoughtful questions about our program,especially the critical questions of
barriers our programs are challenged.This is helpful as we all work toward recovery and look at how we do what we do,why
we do it the way we do and the impact we hve. With the loss of two adult day cares on the island this year, we are deeply
grateful to have the support of the County and the network of organizations and partnerships we have to ensure we can
continue providing adult day care and caregiver support well into the future. Mahalo for all you do.
