Councilmember Sue Lee Loy, Chair, and members of the Human Services and Social Services Committee: On behalf of Kama'aina Hale Apartments we kindly ask for your continue support toward Laupahoehoe Train Museum, Honeybee Education Program: Aina-Based Education Program. This program has gone above and beyond to bless our residence on our affordable housing property with the education and hands on labor in building_our community garden. Not only have they invested time, knowledgeable insight, staff, and supplies but they have also inspired and excited our children on property about growing their own food. Their staff is well trained and carry passion for teaching us about food resiliency, health, Hawaiian culture, and all working together for a better Hawaii. The community garden on our site has offer place for the community to gather safely and learn about growing food and eating more healthy. It has also offered a place for rest and mental health. Living on the Big Island, it takes time to begin a new way of life such as the concept of a community garden but I believe this program is leading the way to making it actual work and eventual thrive for our Hawaii residents. Thank you for taking the time hear about this wonderful program. Sincerely, Summer Butindaro Kama'aina Hale Apartments Comm. No. Ref.To: P I 11.6%& Ref. Date MAY 3 1 2022 1
