RE:Communication No. 633.6
Councilmember Sue Lee Loy, Chair, and members of the Human Services and Social Services Committee:
I am grateful to this year's Grant in Aid,Ad-Hoc Committee for recommendation for the grant to Puna
Canoe Club to support our first Keiki Wa'a Camp. I appreciate the time the Ad-Hoc committee took to
review the applications and that they saw,the value in giving Puna Canoe Club the opportunity to pass
on this part of Hawaii's culture and encourage keiki to build healthy habits and help families build
community connections.
I was not part of the review process for our application (but will be volunteering my time for the camp)
so I cannot comment on how this year's process differed from previous years or on the quality of
questions from the committee. However, through this year's process I have been made aware of other
programs with similar goals to our own and look forward to finding ways to work with them for the
benefit of our community.
Mahalo for this opportunity.
Sincerely, t
Amy Cook
