Dear Councilmember Sue Lee Loy,Chair,and members of the Human Services and Social
Services Committee:
We at The Children's Law Project of Hawaii are extremely grateful to the County of
Hawaii and this year's Grant in Aid Ad-Hoc Committee for your work in making
important determinations regarding County of Hawaii financial assistance and awards.
This year's process,while different,aligns with our organization's desire to make
CHANGE across multiple sectors and frame our results in a way that enables efficient
collaboration between our organization and other government,public,private,and
philanthropic entities.
We appreciated the opportunity to share information about both of our programs:
(1) Project Permanence: Guardianships and Adoptions for At-Risk Kids,and
(2)Victim Options for Child Empowerment and Safety.
We felt the application gave us the opportunity to fully explain our programs,and we
especially appreciated the opportunity to share about the areas where we hope our
programs can be leveraged to create long-term positive systemic change.
