Dear Sue Lee Loy, Chair,and other members•of the Human Services and Social Services Committee:
I write in support of the County of Hawaii providing Grant-in-Aid support to the West Hawaii Mediation Center(WHMC),as
your Ad Hoc Committee has recommended. I retired from a job on the mainland and moved to Waimea two years ago (my
wife is from Oahu). I recently joined the Board of Directors of the WHMC as its Secretary, and I have been extremely
impressed with the thoughtfulness, care and efficiency with which the organization performs its valuable community service.
It's role in maintaining a healthy,stable and safe environment for all of the county's citizens is essential. As a member of the
WHMC's Finance Committee I have seen how critical funding from the County of Hawaii is in maintaining the organization's
ability to continue its essential services without interruption. I hope you will approve this worthy expenditure.
