Councilmember Sue Lee Loy,Chair,and members of the Human Services and Social Services Committee:
The Legal Aid Society of Hawai'i (LASH)is grateful to the County of Hawaii and this year's Grant in Aid,
Ad-Hoc Committee for their work supporting financial assistance and awards for community-serving
nonprofits. This year's process,while different, represents a catalyst for positive change across many
sectors and lays the foundation for better collaboration between, public, private,and philanthropic
partnerships.
This year's Ad-Hoc asked thorough,thoughtful questions about our program,especially the critical
questions of other barriers our programs are challenged with,and we look forward to more
collaboration to bridging these gaps.
