Aloha,
I write to you requesting that you could please pass bill 167 to protect our corals and marine life.
In the past 5 years of going to Wailea Bay on the Kona coast I have seen a drastic reduction in marine flora and fauna. The bay
used to be full of fish, sea urchins and other creatures(6 years ago) Last year we went to the bay and were shocked at how empty
it was!The sea urchins are gone, the fish hang out farther in the bay and the water is full of decayed coral. It is so sad!
It is a shame that the suggestion of no longer using sunscreen that contains harmful chemicals that was made 3 years ago has still
not been made into a law. How much more will it take to force big box stores who still sell the harmful sunscreens to stop? Why
does it have to take a state law to enact what is the right thing to do?
Mahalo for your time and for reading my testimonial.
Warm aloha,
Chris Coles-Morales —c
