Subject: TESTIMONY IN STRONG SUPPORT BILL 167
Attn: Chair Maile David, Co-Chair Aaron Chung, and members of the County of Hawaii's Council
It's critical to know that healthy coral reefs protect Hawaii's coastal infrastructure, beaches, and community. The
chemical compounds contained in non-mineral sunscreen inhibit coral growth and degrade the integrity of our reefs.
This ordinance aims to preserve the health, safety, and welfare of humans and the environment by allowing only
mineral sunscreens to be provided, sold, offered for sale, or distributed in the County. I submit my testimony in
strong support of Bill 167. It's not just important, it's to protect everyone's health and the health of the ocean
