Subject: Sunscreen ban
I would like to speak against the proposal to ban the selling of sunscreens with minerals. As a cancer survivor of
several skin cancers including melanoma I know the importance of using minerals to block the harmful rays.
I know you are including a medical exemption with a Drs prescription. However most of us can barely afford the cost
of sunscreen as it is currently. Cancer is real and we should be doing everything we can to protect the people. This
bill will:
1. Drastically increase the cost of good sunscreen
2. Increase skin cancers as many will not be able to get the better sunscreens
3. Only make life harder for all us that work with kids and try to protect them from the sun when they are outside.
4. Does not impact tourists at all just punishes locals.
Every dermatologist I have seen has always recommended only buying sunscreens with minerals for my whole
family. It does not make any sense to go against the medical specialists.
I strongly encourage you to eliminate the idea of banning minerals in sunscreens.
