Bill 167 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 14 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2016 EDITION,AS AMENDED), BY
ADDING A NEW ARTICLE RELATING TO PROHIBITION OF NON-MINERAL SUNSCREEN
Aloha, I am in Strong Support of Bill 167. Our coral reefs and their health are crucial to our island's coastline, marine
inhabitants, local community,as well as tourism.A healthy reef has the ability to better withstand impacts that are already
happening, like pollution and climate change.The chemical compounds contained in non-mineral sunscreen inhibit coral
growth and degrade the integrity of our reefs.The purpose of this ordinance is to preserve the health, safety, and welfare of
humans and the environment, by allowing only mineral sunscreens to be provided,sold,offered for sale,or distributed in the
County.
