I am so pleased that our county is moving forward as a leader in the fight to save the coral reefs. Our reef system is
critical to shoreline protection, fish populations, and the visitor industry that supports so many families on the Big
Island.
Eliminating oxybenzone was a very good first step, but as with all first steps, it needs to be followed by more efforts
to reduce harmful chemicals in our water.
I am in strong support of limiting sunscreen in our county(and hopefully someday state)to mineral-based products.
