Healthy coral reefs protect our island's coastal infrastructure, beaches, and community. We need to take action now to preserve these reefs and the health of our Island home. The chemical compounds contained in non-mineral sunscreen inhibit coral growth and degrade the integrity of our reefs. This ordinance will help preserve the health, safety, and welfare of all living things that inhabit and visit these reef ecosystems. Please strongly consider passing this bill which will allow only mineral sunscreens to be provided, sold, offered for sale,or distributed in the County. This small action will have a huge impact, not only by directly protecting the corals but also by binding the community and our visitors behind this action and helping to create a culture of conservation for residents and visitors alike. Mahalo for considering this bill. Sincerely, / - awl Sophie Whoriskey, DVM Comm. No. 11'• LO Ref.To: P(Mtn61 Ref. Date JUN - 1 2022
