Subject: Support for Resolution 415-22 re POMC acquisition
Aloha council members,
I support the intent of Resolution 415-22 which would allow the county to enter in negotiations to acquire land in the
ahupu'a of Ka'ohe, also known as Wai'ohe. Protection of natural and cultural resources is supported by the public,
and this land.
However I'm unfamiliar with this particular parcel of land and have no idea of the price the seller is willing to take.
It's far down on the PONC list, which is fine; but I've been hoping that the county would acquire and protect the
portion of land at `o'oma 2 in Kona that's attached to the approx 200 acres already acquired and in need of a buffer
with queen ka'ahumanu highway.
In any case, I support looking further into this acquisition and seeing what the negotiations lead to.
Mahalo for the work of the community and council rep David in their efforts to protect sensitive lands for future
generations.
