This is timely now that guns are the#1 cause of death of America's children. How can anyone say it's not the guns with a straight face when Americans own 50% of the privately owned guns in the world with only 4% of the population? Every country has doors on their schools and every country has their fair share of mentally ill and evil people. Logically, one has to assume that it's the easy availability and abundance of guns. To say there is nothing we can do about it is the coward's stance. Other countries have been able to accomplish this. Our Constitution guarantees the right to a well regulated militia. The 18 year old shooter in Texas didn't resemble a well armed militia in any way. Also, if we were strict constitutionalists, women would not be able to vote and men who didn't own land would be denied that right also. Our founding fathers did not have weapons of mass destruction. The hunters and farmers had to reload after every shot. Times change. As an American, I feel I should have the freedom and liberty to leave my home every day to grocery shop, take a class, see a movie, go to a concert, attend a worship service, etc. in the pursuit of happiness without living in fear that some deranged man with an assault weapon is having a bad day. Thank you for listening. Aloha and mahalo, Mary True, Pepeekeo Comm. No ® Ref. To: p _ —q __ Ref. Date—"N 1 5 2022 1
