Aloha County Council Members
This testimony is in support of Resolution 441.
Living here in Holualoa, we are seeing our elders pass away and the gentrification pushing locals out of their
affordability, even on land we own. It is difficult to remain a farmer here it is difficult to remain a resident here. We
are faced with rezoning land issues from AG to residential causing many challenges in property tax hikes, and
skyrocketing housing markets with flips.
Resolution 411 would help local small businesses, and those people who live in their homes as a primary residence.
Kona suffers from the decisions made around tourist expansion zones, luxury home owners and rezoning of AG to
residential. Please support this bill as we watch our middle aged and younger generation pack up and leave due to
lack of housing and opportunities.
