PROHIBITION OF NON-MINERAL SUNSCREEN
Hello,
I am in support of Bill 167. Coral reef systems are invaluable to Hawaii's ecology and also economy. Non
mineral/chemical sunscreen is harmful to our reefs and also it can be less effective at preventing skin cancer.
Chemical based sunscreen is generally less effective at protecting against the full spectrum of UV rays. Allowing only
mineral sunscreens to be sold is a simple way to reduce the use of harmful and less effective chemical sunscreens in
Hawaii County. The point of bill 167 is to preserve the health, safety, and wellbeing of our people and land and I
support it.
