Aloha, my name is Heather Carvalho. I'm lucky enough to have grown up in Hawaii and call it home for 38 years. I am reaching out in support of Bill 167 An Ordinance Amending Chapter 14 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Editions, as Amended) By Adding a New Article Relating to the Prohibition of Non-Mineral Sunscreen. Supporting Bill 167 means a cleaner, safer future for HawaiTs ocean life, our environment, our community, and our keiki. By allowing only mineral sunscreen to be sold and distributed within our County, we take a stand for the health and wellbeing of our coral reefs, our marine life, and the safety of both locals and tourists alike. It's an easy first step in doing the right thing for both the'aina and those who call it home. Mahaio for taking the time to stand here with me today.
