Dear Council Member,
I am writing again in strong supportt Bill 167. As it has been said want times:
"Healthy coral reefs protect our island's coastal infrastructure, beaches, and community. The chemical compounds
contained in non-mineral sunscreen inhibit coral growth and degrade the integrity of our reefs. The purpose of this
ordinance is to preserve the health, safety, and welfare of humans and the environment, by allowing only mineral
sunscreens to be provided, sold, offered for sale, or distributed in the County."
I would also like to included that I have been long time user of mineral only suncreens long before the effects on the
reef were known. All of the name brand suncreens make mineral only suncreens that are widely avaible for sale all
over Hawaii Island .
As your esteemed colleauges in Maui have done, I sincerely hope you lead the the way in voting yes on Prop 167, for
the future and well being of our precious reefs, our ocean, our local community and especially our Keiki.
