Subject: Bill 167 Written Testimony
Chair David, Co-Chair Chung and the members of the County Council,
I strongly support Bill 167 to prohibit the sale and distribution for sale of non-mineral sunscreen products on Hawaii
Island. Healthy coral reefs protect our island's coastal infrastructure, beaches, and community. The chemical
compounds contained in non-mineral sunscreen inhibit coral growth and degrade the integrity of our reefs. The
purpose of this ordinance is to preserve the health, safety and welfare of humans and the environment. I ask for your
strong support.
