Subject: Support of Bill 167 and Bill 182
Aloha Councilmembers,
I strongly support the Sierra Club testimony on Bill 167 regarding keeping non-mineral sunscreens our of our oceans and off our
reefs.
I am also in strong support of Bill 182. 1 served on Mayor Kim's Real Property Tax Working Group and I believe this is a doable and
worthwhile change to provide some relief to our middle and lower class folks who are still struggling to recover from our economic
downturn from COVID. My understanding from the Real Property Tax office is that they are in support of these changes as there
haven't been increases to the base homeowner exemption rate in years.
My only additional testimony on this subject is that I would appreciate hearing any updates from any Councilmembers(I'm sure this
has been discussed at recent council meetings and apologies as I am just not aware)about proposed actions/bills to provide relief for
renters.The tax relief in Bill 182 is helpful for homeowners, but some of those in our communities who are struggling the most are
renters.The reason why I was in support of the recent fuel tax reduction is that it would provide help to some of our most vulnerable
community members across the board and those who are facing the greatest financial struggles right now.
Mahalo for all you are doing, }
