Dear Chair David and Council Members,
lam in Strong Support of ill.167 and urge you to pass this bill.
Healthy coral reefs protect our island's coastal infrastructure, beaches, and community. The chemical compounds
contained in nonmineral sunscreen inhibit coral growth and degrade the integrity of our reefs. The purpose of
this ordinance is to preserve the health, safety, and welfare of'humans and the environment, by allowing only
mineral sunscreens to be provided, sold, offered for sale, or distributed in the County. We can protect both human
and coral health with this Bill167
Several years ago I switched to only mineral based sunscreen and have.found eco friendly packaged products
distributed by local companies at events and local stores like Locovore. I am concerned about skin cancer and am
convinced these products give the best protection without harmful chemicals and fillers.
