Aloha Council Chair David and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Ms. Daina Saiki of District 2 to the Board of Appeals.
Ms. Saiki has been a resident of Hawaii for 54 years. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in
Psychology from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. She is a former Hawaiian Airlines flight
attendant who also developed a successful volunteer-driven effort. This effort provided
mentorship opportunities and an inter-departmental connection that enabled employees to
communicate and find solutions to systemic issues.
Ms. Saiki has been an active volunteer serving with various organizations throughout Hawaii
Island. If confirmed, she will fill the remainder of the term of Springer Kay, who resigned, with a
term ending December 31, 2022.
