A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MALAMA O PUNA FOR
EXPENSES RELATED TO THE MAINTENANCE AND BEAUTIFICATION OF THE RENE SIRACUSA PĀHOA ROUNDABOUT.
WHEREAS, Malama O Puna is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide community resources to maintain a safe and healthy community through environmental education,
hands-on projects, advocacy, watchdogging, and land trusting; and
WHEREAS, Malama O Puna has taken initiative and catalyzed community-driven beautification of the Rene Siracusa Pāhoa Roundabout by coordinating donations of native vegetation and materials,
and organizing volunteers to upkeep the scenery; and
WHEREAS, the Rene Siracusa Pāhoa Roundabout relies on community partnerships and volunteers for consistent maintenance and stewardship to preserve its beautification efforts; and
WHEREAS, Malama O Puna is requesting funds to assist with the purchase of tools, equipment, and supplies for the maintenance and beautification of the Rene Siracusa Pāhoa Roundabout;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports community-based programs that promote education, health, safety, and well-being in drug-free, and alcohol-free venues; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Malama
O Puna to assist with expenses related to the maintenance and beautification of the Rene Siracusa Pāhoa Roundabout.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
